"I painted the artificial flowers we had collected for years and had mixed with flowers that were wired up with electric bulbs. After making several large canvases, I decided to introduce our favourite faces we had printed on T-shirts and as prints on handmade paper for many years, so the faces would appear festooned in a strange setting of vegetation and lights. These first portraits were entirely painted but now I began to enlarge our screen-prints on canvases 106cms square with archival inks, then painted into them.' - John Dove, 2026
