"9 -11 (Relic) 2001 When 9-11 happened, it became clear that a different kind of future was about to emerge. We closed the T-shirt company and returned to the studio. We fell into a mind-set about the 9-11 event and thought about the relics that would be left from the disaster. As we watched the shattering event on TV, we wrote some lines of verse and planned to make T-shirts but we felt the disaster was such a drastic human catastrophe we decided to make one unique piece that would bring these elements together. The first piece of work was a bas-relief sculpture - "9 -11 (relic)". It was made in the weeks following the event. Ostensibly, the piece still resonates today.
